Katelyn's Tea Party - a how to on personalised invitations..

Hello all

Sheena and I have been busy creating gorgeous personalised party invitations for Sheena's daughter who will be 6 soon.

The Venice papers from our new vintage collections (coming soon) are perfect for cute girly invitations with floral designs, and pink, cream and brown tones. Sheena came up with a great idea of making little 3D 'fans' by folding a strip of paper into concertina fold for a cute look. You can also make full circles instead of fans. And of course no little girl's invites are complete without a little something extra- bling, buttons, brads, flowers etc. They are very easy to make, look so pretty and are very affordable.

 

I'm sure Kayelyn's little friends will be delighted to receive such a special invitation.

BUT WAIT... there's more! We've also made matching envelopes from the 'Petite' paper collection. Cute as huh?

Our new obsession

Happy Monday

A girlfiend of mine is hitting the big 40 soon and I think this calls for a seriously special gift to mark the milestone. I thought a gorgeous handmade bracelet from our Maria George store would be perfect (really it was the perfect excuse to go back to the store!) My friend's fave colours are red, purple and yellow. I started with the red/pink round beads which I loved immediately. Note- red is NOT the easiest colour to match up! After a good hour + of my driving the ladies crazy matching colours and shapes we came up with this...

These pics don't do the bracelet justice it is really stunning. Sheena is STILL not talking to me for visiting the store again without her and is planning to get one made up for herself (I'm guarding this bracelet with my life just incase it magically dissapears... I'm watching you Sheena!!!) The round red/pink beads are Dichroic glass beads and have a wonderful metallic sheen due to the dichroic chips in them. These chips are a result of multipule layers of metal oxides- very pretty. The purple square beads are the most amazing crystal beads as are the small amber beads. Welcome to Trace's & Sheena's new obsession!!!

Love AJ...

I'm LOVING AJ alright! I met with Amber at Magnolia Square market and was so inspired and in awe of Amber's work (OK I am totally envious of her talents) After wanting to take all she had on display I narrowed it down to these amazing 3D butterfly framed wall art which she designed especially for me.

Not only are these butterlies beautiful they are made from sari fabric! You can see the amazing detail in them. A truly magical find.

dumplings and noodles and beads oh my!

Hello again

Yesterday Sheena and I had a meeting in the city and while we were there we lunched at our fave Asian dumpings restaurant (dumplings & noodles yumo), and dropped into Brandcorp's retail bead store Maria George at lev 1, 37 Swanston Street Melb to meet the ladies. The building is so old and beautiful with stained glass windows inside and out. It has such character modern buidlings just don't have.

Of course once in the store one can't help but be bedazzled by all the eye candy and simply cannot leave the store without some sort of souvenir! Erika and Rose are so lovely and helped Sheena pick out glass beads to make a gorgeous necklace and helped me make a beautiful glass bead bracelet. I was so excited I call it my 'patent' bracelet and named it Tracey's Garden. The pink being roses and the green being greenery. While on my high I named Sheena's necklace-in-progress Sheena's Delight. All afternoon I drove Sheena crazy admiring my bracelet the charm still hasn't worn off! The Maria George store is definately worth a visit next time you are in the city. The ladies would love to have you pop in and say hi.

Mother's Day Card Ideas using pinwheels

Hi everyone

We've found a way to make cards fun and interesting. Pinwheels are cute and give a card great dimension. They're easy to make so kids can get involved (with supervision of course). These cards would be a great mother's day gift especially made from the kids. Check out our creations and how-to below.

You will need:

Rasberry 8” x 8”

Venice

paper pack (8” x 8” assorted paper packs available soon)

brad

Large pin      

Blank cards

Icy pole stick

Ruler

Pencil

Scissors

glue

Cut 2 coordinating papers into a square 4” x 4” and attach together.

Fold the square corner to corner to mark the centre then unfold.

 

  

 

 

With a pencil make a mark approx 1/3 from centre and cut along folded lines to the pencil mark.

 

Bring every other point to the centre and place a pin through all points. With the pin make a hole big enough to replace with a brad.

 

 

 

Cover the front of a card with patterned paper or leave plain.

Glue icy pole stick to the card and attach pinwheel to top of icy pole stick.

You may like to use flowers, ribbon, rub ons etc to decorate your pinwheel card.
