How to create a card with a pocket for gift cards/ certificates...
It's getting ever so popular giving a gift card or gift certificate that's been printed of the internet. I love finding interesting and thoughtful gifts and often that turns out to be a gift card [ie for music or dvds] or a gift certificate from the web which is often a PDF that I've had to print off. Recently, I bought my husband a gift for the moonlight cinema which is movies screen outdoors at the Royal Botanical Gardens in Melbourne. My gift certificate was sent as a PDF with details of the screening, location etc. However, I was stuck on how to present this without it being a tacky sheet of paper.
Shirley made this gorgeous "Pocket Card" for this very purpose - thank you Shirley....
Take a look at the images and I'll give you a quick run-down on how you can go about making one yourself -
We have used the Rasberry Vintage Series for this project
Step 1: Create your pocket
We created the pocket by interlocking the flaps of two envelopes inside the envelopes themselves. Try using a square envelope or A5 size for something a little different.
Step 2: Cover the front and back with your selected paper
mount the paper onto black card so that your patterned paper looks framed
Step 3: Embellish the front cover
you can embellish as much or as little as you like - the wonderful thing about this range of papers is that they look really good with or without much embellishment
Shirley choose to add some extra dimension and interest by adding paper flowers and ribbon to the front. You cut these using different shape cutters. She also added ribbon and rhinestones from Rasberry.
Step 4: Cover the inside of the card as featured in the images above
Step 5: Add a note to the right hand side
you can do this in two ways
1. refer to image above - type something on the computer and print it off
2. use the ledger paper provided in the pack of paper sheets (the 8x8 vintage paper of paper's includes 10 sheets per pack of which 2 sheets are ledger paper) - cut to size and hand write your message for a personalised touch.
Step 6: you can add a touch of embellishments inside if you would like
Shirley added some rhinestones to a paper flower.
you can also use the Rasberry Rub On range to add a special message
