With 3 kids in our family (aged 3, 5 and 7) I have certainly done my fair share of birthday parties.
I think I have also covered some of the “gauntlet” of party options available (I did say some – because of course there is a lot of options) such as jumping castle and BBQ at home or outsourcing completely to a play centre (definitely a winning option) and we have also had the privilege of a visiting fairy to entertain and amuse us with fairy songs and dance.
Regardless of the party style or location – all parties have one thing in common party bags (a.k.a loot bags or treat bags). So why not add a little creativity and fun to party bags rather then just throwing a couple off lollies in bag. You could, if you were creating party invites coordinate the bags to your invites but you don’t have to be restricted to this.
I created 3 different types of party bags to give you some inspiration. Take note there is no fancy gadgets, machines or tools required. Don’t be fooled by the cute photography – its not that difficult and all that’s required is a little bit of paper folding skills and some double-sided tape. Oh and you might need some scissors. I was hoping you would have one of those floating around the house somewhere!
1. Cone shaped party bag
We have used the Rasberry A4 Birds paper for this project. Fold the paper into a cone. Best way to do this is by starting at the bottom left hand corner and folding around. You will need to hold onto this firmly until you have taped the fold to hold it in place.
I decided to add a little bit of detail using these beautiful Rasberry Epoxy Brads and Ribbons
You can fill the cone from bottom up whereby the whole cone is filled with goodies – perfect if you are using small lollies etc. Alternatively, put some cellophane / tissue inside the cone to fill the bottom and then place the treats towards the top – perfect for long items or bigger items. I’ll leave this up to you to decide.
2. Personalised Party Bag
I really love this idea - it enables you to see what's inside the bag and also add alphabets to personalise the bag with the recipients intials. You can taylor this bag to suit themed party. I used the butterflies paper from our latest collection in our online stationery store and alphas
This is really simple - you will need a snap-lock or cellophane bag (you can find these in any $2 shop). Cut a piece of red cardstock that is as long as your bag with extra to fold over. Cover with paper and then fold over to create a header. Use double sided tape to fix the clear bag (fill it with goodies first) inside the fold. I cut a circle using white card stock and added an alpha to the centre to represent the child's initials.
3. Special Little Party Bag
This bag is cute and is great if you are having a themed party. I will add the instructions for this treat bag tomorrow -
There is a theme of party cards, place cards and cupcake toppers that we created to coordinate with the above party bag so I will write about it tomorrow.
